Do what you love, and love what you do.

Hi, I’m Jess

I am so glad you stopped by!

I have always had a creative streak and a penchant for strategic thinking. I have been in Experience Design for ten years and during that time, I have found my expertise lies in navigating large, company-changing strategic initiatives and driving more efficient ways of working within the product model.

I enjoy leading teams and bringing out the best in people. It has always been important to me to create a psychologically safe environment where we can tackle problems together, using a growth mindset and pushing for innovative thought.

My goal is to lead transformative initiatives that merge human-centered design with cutting-edge technology, creating systems and products that address global challenges and enhance user experiences across diverse fields.

I love spending time with my husband and two boys where we currently live in Minnesota. I love doing anything artistic - knitting, woodworking, bookmaking, weaving, drawing, you name it!

My Current

  • Working on a ‘Change Leadership’ Certificate at Ideo U for continued growth and learning.

  • Re-reading the Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K. Jemison (my favorite author).

  • Knitting my first color work sweater.

  • Getting ready for our first round of backyard chickens.

  • Planning next adventure to Ireland.

What I Value

It is important to me to instill a sense of adventure in my boys and lead by example. I'm all about taking risks and finding new opportunities that push me out of my comfort zone and teach me something new about others and myself.

What Others Are Saying…

Kadesha Miller | Product Manager

Working with Jess for 2.5 years was one of the highlights of my career. She is an insightful design leader. As a Product Manager, she helped me articulate my thoughts more clearly and encouraged me to delve deeper when defining requirements. Having her intuitive UX leadership benefitted how our Product, UX and Engineering teams collectively pushed for and delivered better experiences. Jess models design thinking consistently and advocates for user input to solve and keep her teams on the right track. Her speed, technical depth, and collaborative approach helped ensure success on every initiative.

Nathalie Perez | Designer

Jessica is an outstanding Senior Manager. She has the ability to shape and shift strategies while being knowledgeable and involved in all details. She created and lead ways of working that have improved productivity, creativity and empathy from all stakeholders involved, serving as a blueprint for adjacent teams at Best Buy. My biggest takeaway from Jessica is that being an exceptional strategist can coexist with being the most empathic leader.

Brian Rossow | Senior Product Manager

I partnered with Jessica for 4 years. Being a product manager responsible for such a large cultural shift in our company, it was important that we got our work right and did plenty of research. Jessica was always there as a partner, guiding us through those meaningful cultural challenges. I relied on her for her in-depth knowledge and strategic foresight. I wish all UX partnerships were like the one I had with Jessica.

Alena Yanovich | Designer

I had the privilege of working with Jessica at Best Buy where she was my design manager. She is an incredibly strategic leader who supports and encourages her team to drive positive change while always keeping the bigger picture in mind. Jessica fosters team growth, provides guidance during challenging times, and empowers her team with the freedom and independence to take ownership of their work. It was truly an honor to work with such an inspiring and exceptional leader.

Alex Hughes | Senior UX Manager

When I met Jess four years ago, we were colleagues, then I became her manager, and she was ultimately promoted to be my peer. She is one of the most strategic, respected, and well-spoken people I have ever worked with. Her opinion is highly sought after by her team, partners, and leaders. She says things that make the room stop and think deeply about user problems.

On a personal level, Jess is a person who cares about the well-being and success of those around her. This is evident by how she leads her team, her activities outside of work, and the way she activates her UX skills at work. I would highly recommend her as both an experience strategist and design leader.
